@goat Blackpool rock or stones rock or They Might Be Giants rock

Today is a good day for Europe!

Ukraine 🇺🇦 and Moldova 🇲🇩 are granted the candidate status to become part of the European family.

Georgia 🇬🇪 is given the perspective to become a member of the EU.

@revk Hmm. Standard "not a lawyer, don't know what I'm talking about" disclaimers apply, of course, but... DPA 2018 says that data is "inaccurate" if it's “incorrect or misleading as to any matter of fact", and the right to rectification in GDPR only applies when the data is inaccurate. So, if the temporary email address is valid... they may have a point.

UK people, have you seen a substantial decline in fridge-life of carrots recently?

I remember having been able to store carrots for weeks on end with no problems previously! This year's Sainsburys ones seem to go black as soon as they pass the best before date, if not before.

Interesting. Bing appears to be completely down - which has had the knock-on effect of taking out Ecosia, DuckDuckGo and more...

@Edent Hmm...

House of Commons Information Security [God knows what goes in here] Information Security Officer, maybe?

(I looked up my guess after writing it and know I'm desperately wrong - good lord, what a name for a posting!)

The proposal passed with 1.15 million votes in support and 30,101 votes against.

One single voter provided 1 million of the "yes" votes, passing the proposal.

Been trying to renew my passport since 29 April.

On 18 May I was told my passport photo was declined as edited. Obviously, it wasn't edited... I guess that it was rejected because I changed the filename to "Passport photo". So, I resubmit with the original filename!

Today, it's been rejected again... but this time because "my face isn't centred". It is centred!

Why do I get the feeling this is deliberate to try and make people go to a Government approved photo booth and pay their chums money?

@RadiantEmber UK, some offices have air conditioning but it's definitely not universal. It'd be exceptionally unusual to see a home that had air conditioning - maybe some very spenny flats, but none otherwise.

Acting unilaterally is not constructive. Violating international agreements is not acceptable.

We have today launched infringement proceedings against the United Kingdom for not complying with parts of the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland.

Is there any way to install SideQuest VR *without* signing an NDA with Meta? I have no desire to receive any of their confidential information... I just want to enable developer mode on my Quest 2.

USB-C will be the new standard port for all Europeans.

This means more savings for EU consumers and less waste for the planet:

🔌 mobile phones, tablets, cameras… will all use USB type C
🔌 harmonised fast-charging technology
🔌 unbundling of sale of chargers

@neil My partner had norovirus a couple of weeks ago, it wasn't fun in the slightest. The only bright side was that it fortunately didn't last for more than a few days. Sending good vibes, hope you feel better soon!
